Fire Department News & Activities

Chief Ray Hogans reported
that the Lillian Volunteer Fire Department responded to 52 calls dispatched by
the 911 operators in July 2007. These included 31 calls for medical assistance and public assists, 7 motor vehicle accidents,
4 brush fires, 1 swimmer in distress, 1 stranded motorist. In addition we had 7
mutual aid calls for 1 activated fire alarm, a structure fire, 1 drowning, 1 boat fire, and 3 brush fires.
The Departments with which Lillian has mutual aid are: Innerarity Point (FL),
Perdido Beach,
Josephine and Elberta. At present there are 8 officers, 22 firefighters and 5
Explorers. All Department vehicles are in service
and have current certifications. The Department has responded to 325 emergency
calls from January through July.
Burn Ban is now in effect through October per the Alabama
